I am sure everyone is aware and have been following the news about the Coronavirus that is infecting thousands of people in Wuhan and other cities in China and reports say that it has spread outside China. What do we know about Coronavirus?
- Coronaviruses ( CoV ) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe respiratory disease such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). A novel coronavirus (nCoV) or (2019 nCoV), is a new strain of virus that has not been previously identified in humans.
- So far there has been 17 Countries affected by 2019 Novel Coronavirus, these countries include – Germany, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Canada, Malaysia, Australia, Nepal, France, Vietnam, Singapore, Hongkong, Macau, Taiwan, US, Republic of Korea, Japan, Thailand.
- The first known cases in December 2019 were traced to an animal market in the Chinese city of Wuhan.
- As of Wednesday ( China Time ) 132 people had died from the virus and the number of confirmed cases who are infected with the virus are up to 5,974.
I hope that an antidote will be discovered as soon as possible so this virus will no longer spread and affect more people around the globe.
